MISSING IN ACTION: Thankfully for Melbourne fans, skipper Cameron Smith returns after being rested last week, but full-back Billy Slater will not be back until the Round 20 match against the lowly Eels. The Storm are still without centre Will Chambers for an indefinite period with a blood clot disorder.
The Cowboys welcome back their Origin quartet of Johnathan Thurston, Brent Tate, Matt Scott and James Tamou, forcing Ricky Thorby, Ashton Sims and Michael Morgan back to an extended bench. Kilifa Faifai Loa and Joel Reithmuller have been cut from the squad. Half-back Ray Thompson is in doubt with a shoulder problem, meaning Thurston could return to feeding the scrums.

 

FORM: Slightly worrying times down Melbourne way, with the Storm surrendering meekly in their two most recent outings. With no Slater and Smith last Saturday night, the premiership favourites were just awful against the Raiders, eventually going down 40-12 – a record defeat for the club at the hands of the Green Machine. Kudos must go to stand-in Storm skipper Cooper Cronk though, who never stopped trying despite providing the heroics for Queensland just 72 hours earlier. The Storm now hold just a two-point lead at the top of the ladder after their recent hiccups.

The Cowboys enjoyed the bye last week following their Round 17 loss across the ditch to the Warriors. They were missing their Origin stars against a near full-strength Warriors and did well to stay in the contest until the final 10 minutes.
