MISSING IN ACTION: Sharks coach Shane Flanagan couldn’t get the pen out of his top drawer quick enough to put skipper Paul Gallen and back-rower Jeremy Smith’s names back on the team sheet. It wouldn’t surprise if Sharks-bound Michael Gordon was a late inclusion for Penrith after recovering from his broken leg.
FORM: Has the Sharks’ bubble finally burst? Two losses and a draw in the past three weeks would have some suggesting it has but they are still well-placed in sixth spot and five points ahead of the chasing-pack just outside the top eight. There’s nothing to suggest the Sharks won’t be around in September but they will want to swing the momentum if they hope to last more than the opening week of the finals.

The Panthers finally
gave their fans something to cheer about with last weekend’s 28-16 win
over the Roosters. It snapped a five-game losing streak and ensured they
kept their noses in front of rivals Parramatta in the battle for the
wooden spoon. While they are a long way behind the Sharks on the ladder,
the Panthers will fancy their chances of springing an upset, having won
five of their past eight games at Toyota Stadium.
