MISSING IN ACTION: The Roosters learned this week they will be without centre Shaun Kenny-Dowall for up to a month due to a back injury. Halfback Mitchell Pearce came through Wednesday night’s Origin clash unscathed and will play. Canterbury have lost winger Bryson Goodwin to a ruptured spleen. Luke MacDougall has been named on the wing but is in doubt with an elbow problem. New signing Krisnan Inu, who joined the Bulldogs on Thursday on a three-and-a-half year deal, could come into the side for his debut.
FORM: After a strong start to the year, the Roosters season is approaching a vital time where they either regroup and push for the top eight or fall away. The Bondi club have won just one of their last five games to drop from sixth to 13th. They have been close in recent weeks and pushed the Dragons, Warriors and Sea Eagles but unless they turn that effort into competition points, their plight will not improve. The Bulldogs ended their own poor run of results with an impressive 26-6 win over Cronulla on Monday night and showed glimpses they may be back on track. The return of Trent Hodkinson from injury is important and will give their attack more impetus. Not much has separated these proud clubs over the years, with the Roosters just edging out the head-to-head record 78-75.
