MISSING IN ACTION: Manly winger David Williams may have paid the price for his match-winning try against the Broncos after picking up a hamstring injury in the process of diving over the line. He has been named for this match, but remains in doubt. The Sea Eagles will be missing the Stewart brothers, Tony Williams and interchange player Jamie Buhrer to Origin, opening up spots for Dean Whare, Vic Mauro and Nick Skinner in the squad. FORM: Manly’s last-minute effort against the Broncos last Friday night confirmed a hat-trick of wins for the reigning premiers and sent them an extra position up the ladder into fifth. The Sea Eagles took an early lead in the game before Brisbane clawed their way back into the contest midway through the first half. Brisbane appeared destined for victory with the seconds ticking down, but Manly displayed great composure under pressure to send the ball wide for Williams to claim the match-winner in the right corner. Good signs for Sea Eagles fans.
The Roosters fell victim to some poor refereeing across the ditch last Saturday night, eventually succumbing to the Warriors 30-26. Tensions boiled over late in the match as one of the inexperienced referees struggled to keep pace with the game. In saying that, some really poor lapses in defence let the Chooks down badly and they will have to address these issues if they want to make a return to the top eight.
